Teachers, Administrators With Guns?!

Why the hell NOT?!

Our most precious national resource is gene-rationally cultured and harbored in our K-12 schools throughout our country. We've labeled those schools "gun free" zones and in essence hung a target on any or all of our kids and grand-kids! We've even gone so far as to advertise the absence of firearms, the presence of vulnerable children and the school's inability to defend them with those damned "Gun Free Zone" signs posted all over the schools campuses.

I know when I was in school we learned how to handle, store, use and clean guns. Yeah, a public K-12 education system teaching us young hellions that stuff without any second thoughts involved. But then again, that was in the 50's-60's and my father had already broached guns, the handling, shooting, cleaning of them with my brothers and I.  Things were more grounded back in those days. Our parents held us accountable for our actions and omissions. What we did we had to own up to. I don't recall hearing of any "mass shootings" let alone "shootings" in any of the schools I attended nor any of those schools in our state.

We even had rifle and pistol clubs. We would duck hunt in the morning on the way to school and again in the afternoon after football practice or on our way home.

Today, given the target rich environment we've created for those out here amongst us who might want to do harm to our children, our grandchildren via the "gun free zone" laws our legislators passed and the schools subsequently advertise I figured it was only a matter of time. And it was... quite awhile ago. It's getting past insane! It's getting to be borderline criminal to deny an adult every tool, every right to defend ourselves, our children, to defend those who we've been morally and/or legally empowered to protect.

In short, I couldn't believe legislators were disarming those of us who are very capable defenders, of our final options of self defense and defense of others by making our schools "gun free zones" AND ADVERTISING IT!

It's so sad that it takes these types of human caused tragedies resulting from the restriction of our constitutional rights to create new laws that otherwise afford us our basic constitutional rights, for the protection of ourselves, of others!

America, wake up! If we restrict guns then only those of us who are responsible, law abiding citizens will lose our guns. The criminal element? Yeah, they'll be that much more emboldened... and armed to boot.

I purposely avoided discussing the most recent Florida school massacre on this site until now. Now it seems like there just might be a return to sanity, to favor in err of our children, our most precious resources. To regain and maintain one of our most fundamental basic rights afforded us... the right to keep and bear arms... And I will continue to keep and bear arms to protect myself and those in need from evil when relevant. Kudos to Senator Dennis Baxley for his legislative proposal that suggests teachers and administrators should be allowed to be armed with a firearm while on a school campus.

Chalk this up as a "vent"! Or if you want, a "rant"... I could care less. I just think it's so darned sad to have another avoidable tragedy (like all of these school shootings are) go down and once again no one was equipped to effectively eliminate the threat before the threat could kill our children. This law should never have needed to have been introduced. The basic, fundamental right to defend our children, ourselves from evil with whatever force is necessary should never have been shelved by a bunch of fat cat legislators in the first place, let alone anyone else!
